As individuals we collect a large number of documents – both hard copy and electronic. These can potentially be misused. They include bank statements; credit card information; tax details; superannuation and pension information; pay slips; legal documents; car registration rates and utilities bills etc.
Some of these need to be kept for a certain amount of time for tax and other purposes, others do not.
The OAIC (Office of the Australian Information Commissioner) conducted a survey in 2013 and the results included the following:
- 33% of Australians said they had problems with the way their personal information was handled in the previous year.
- 90% of Australians are concerned about their personal information being sent overseas.
To avoid identity theft and other misuse of your personal documents, disposal of these should be done in a secure and confidential manner.
Confidential Shredding Co. offers a professional, confidential and secure disposal of personal documents and most electronic media with our shredding service.
For individuals we offer locked security bins for paper documents which can be left with you for 10-14 days, giving you time to sort through your personal papers. We leave a key for the bin with you so you can have the bin open when loading it, but it can then be securely locked while awaiting collection.
Once collected from you, your documents are destroyed by shredding at a Commonwealth Government accredited site. Confidential Shredding Co. then issues you with a Certificate of Destruction certifying that all records, from the time of collection until they are shredded, remain secure and confidential.
We provide a similar service for electronic media.
